How to record Android smartphone screen

There might've been times when a friend or family member asked you for help regarding configuring something on their Android smartphone(s). Maybe, they are not well-versed in technology, maybe they have shifted to Android from another mobile operating system (e.g. iOS) and are thus unfamiliar with it; the reason could be anything.
Now, if your friend or family member handed over their smartphone to you so that you can help them out, it'd be easy to do that. But what if they don't want to give their smartphone, or are at some place other than yours? Wouldn't it be great if you could record the entire troubleshooting procedure, step-by step, on your smartphone and then send it as a video to them? And if you wondering this is possible?

Yes, it is. You can create a video recording (or screencast) of your Android smartphone's screen, as well as all the actions performed on it (e.g. taps, menu selections), directly from the device itself. All you need is a free app called DU Recorder. Here's how to do it.

Step 1: Head over to Google Play Store, search for DU Recorder and install the app.

Step 2: When you launch the app, you'll be presented with different options such as Record, Videos & Settings, Camera and Screenshot. You can tap on Videos & Settings to configure options such as output video resolution, quality and frame rate.

Step 3: Once done, tap on the Record button and DU Recorder will start the recording. You can now do whatever you want on the smartphone's display, and the app (actively running in the background) will record all of your steps. At any given time, you can control the recording options via the app's widget in the notification shade.
